Total time: 137:16 minBerlin-based label Get Physical Music doesn’t need a long introduction. Backed by a collective of six people (Booka Shade, M.A.N.D.Y., DJ T and Peter Hayo), each of whom had a long-standing career in music industry, the label has introduced a string of groundbreaking releases over the five years of its existence.
It has taken Get Physical just four years to become one of the strongest brands of the international club scene. Both the in-house DJ mix series Body Language (the most recent one, Vol. 4, was mixed by Dixon) and a string of double vinyl compilations called Full Body Workout constantly introduce new beats and sounds by up-and-coming as well as established artists.
Now, five years in, the time has come to celebrate. Just like any other label - with a compilation.
Simply titled ‘5 Years of Get Physical’, the compilation will be released on double-CD. The release features new tracks plus remixes of older label cuts by a surprising range of artists. ‘5 Years of Get Physical’ is out in mid-June.
CD2 features new tracks by Get Physical regulars, while CD1 contains remixes and reinterpretations of Get Physical tracks from outside the electro house box including big electronic names (Matthew Herbert, Moby) pop (Sebastian Tellier, Hot Chip), underground house musicians (Henrik Schwarz, Dexter) dance punk (The Rapture) and even indie rock (Fujiya and Miyagi).
To celebrate the anniversary, Get Physical artists are also touring together throughout Europe from now until the end of summer so keep an eye out for ‘5 Years Get Physical’ nights in your city.
